FRIENDS OF MIDDLETOWN ROBOTICS (FOMR)

Thanks for Your Interest in Friends of Middletown Robotics (FOMR) A 501(c)(3) Non Profit Organization.

In recent years we found it necessary to create a non-profit organization to support and supplement our program. The result is FOMR, an organization dedicated to raising the bar for Middletown Robotics. Some of our successes include a new dedicated workspace for our team at Appoquinimink High School, increased visibility at both Appoquinimink High Schools and three new FLL (First Lego League) Teams. The following is the content of our donation request letter and sums up the work of our organization:

Dear Community Business:

I am writing to introduce you to The Middletown Robotics Organization and request your support for this successful student program.

It is our goal to help area youth build skills that will help them succeed in life. Throughout the year, students learn to design, build, and program autonomous robots for competition. In addition to learning about science, technology, and engineering, students learn important job skills such as business presentation models, website development, business strategic planning, graphics design, and computer programming. Volunteer mentors, many of whom graduated from the Middletown Robotics program, provide guidance and training for the students.

The Middletown Robotics Organization is part of the FIRST (For the Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) program and it is making a difference in the lives of youth in the Middletown, Odessa, Townsend (MOT), Delaware community. Students operate under the philosophy of Gracious Professionalism: a way of doing things that encourages high-quality work, emphasizes the values of others, and respects individuals and the community. We are proud to say that for the last three years, 100% of our graduating students have gone on to advance their education.

The Robotics program is open to all middle and high school students from throughout the MOT area. In order to allow students of all incomes to participates, there is no cost to join the program. We do, however, require team members to participate in fundraising events.

Since the first Middletown Robotics team was formed in 2003, we have steadily expanded our program to include more students in this highly successful program. Today, Middletown Robotics consists of four teams from throughout the MOT community. Our founding team, “Thermogenesis,” is made up of 9th through 12th grade students from Appoquinimink and Middletown High Schools. This year we have added three middle school teams for grades 6 through 8. The students are from the Appoquinimink School District and MOT Charter school. Both programs also incorporate home-schooled students.

As a supporter of Middletown Robotics, your company’s name will be listed as team sponsor on our website. In addition, with your donation of $500 or more, your company’s name will be advertised on our team shirts. For donations of $1000 and above, your business name or logo will also be added to the team’s banners which will be displayed at all competitions we attend.

Please join us in supporting the education of local students in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and business. Your tax-deductible contribution will be used to cover the costs of competition fees, procure robot construction materials such as controllers, sensors, aluminum framing, motors, etc…, and purchase needed tools. We are also looking for mentors who would be interested in joining our team.

Thank you for your time and consideration. If you have any questions, please contact us.

President
